Garden Time and Father's Day

We've planted a garden every year since we moved back to Iowa and every year the rabbits eat everything except the tomatoes. A bit discouraging. Last year we tried a little fence around the garden and the dog broke the fence, which let the rabbits in. This year, Paul outsmarted the dog and the rabbits with a super strong and spiffy fence and we finally get to enjoy some fruits of our labor. These pictures are of the girls with their peas that they happily munched on in the back yard. And yes, that utter peace and joy on Winky's face is over the peas she's got in her hands. But can I get them to eat them from the grocery story...no way!

Here's two pictures from Father's Day. The girls both made very nice cards for their Daddy. Winky also made a frame at preschool that she was very proud to give to him.

Twelve Years!

Wow, it's been twelve years today that Paul and I have been married. Some days it seems like a lifetime and I can barely remember life without him.

Paul is a great Dad, whether the girls appreciate it or not. Gussie has always been a Daddy's girl, we could tell that since she was very little. Winky on the other hand, they have a love/"DON'T LOOK AT ME" kind of relationship. But to be honest, she has that crabby thing going with a lot of people. To them, he is the expert on baking cookies and cakes, gardening, building train tracks and Dora treehouses, and someone they can always depend on. He's a good husband, who tries his best and I'll admit I can be a bit neurotic and difficult at times to live with.

I'm grateful for what we've had these last 12 years and I look forward to many more. Love ya!

Daddy Time

I took last Friday off to give Paul a little break, lift, pick-me-up, family bonding time, whatever you want to call it...oh yeah...and to sleep in for a few extra hours. He has been running on empty for quite a few weeks now with a crazy, busy spring season at work.
We took Winky to a park for a picnic and then Paul walked up to Gussie's school and they got to walk home together, something she loves to do. It was a beautiful day and the girls got to spend most of the afternoon outside with Paul and I spent some time organizing my scrapbook area. It's a complete disaster area, but I can see parts of the table again, so there is an end in sight!
